Who doesn’t want to have a straight smile? While many of us aren’t born with perfectly aligned teeth, with modern dental technology, there are several different options to choose from so you can work towards straightening your pearly whites. Invisalign is becoming more popular because it does just that without forcing the patient to endure a mouthful of metal brackets and wires for who knows how long. Continue reading to learn why it is probably a good idea to get started with your treatment before the end of the year.

Does Dental Insurance Cover Invisalign?

If you are one of the millions of Americans who has dental insurance, chances are that part of your treatment will be covered. A lot of the time, insurance will cover Invisalign similarly to how it covers traditional metal braces. Is this is the case for you, your policy will probably end up paying either a set percentage of the costs, or it will cover up to a specific dollar amount. Many insurance plans have an allowance set aside for orthodontic treatments, but they will still have a cumulative cap on the amount that they agree to pay for this type of treatment. Once you reach this cap amount, treatment will no longer be covered by your plan.

Why Should You Start Treatment Before the Year Ends?

When you are seeking a dental treatment that is more complex, like orthodontic work, it will require multiple visits to complete the treatments, the end of the calendar year is a great time to get started. This is especially the case if you have already met your annual deductible, or the dollar amount that your need to pay each year before insurance begins to cover your costs. Once you have reached this amount, your out-of-pocket costs are likely to decrease dramatically. In the end, beginning a large treatment is made much easier.

Most dental insurance plans renew at the beginning of each calendar year, meaning that all unused benefits will expire and will not carry over into the following year. At this point, you are also responsible for paying your annual deductible again. Ultimately, you can save a lot of money by beginning your treatment now instead of waiting until after the holiday season.

If you want to straighten your smile with Invisalign, there is no better time to get started. This way, you can finally begin working towards your dream smile!
